Rose travels to the areas that mean the most to you for your Senior Portraits.
Why are senior portraits important to you?
The senior year is starting and your senior will graduate and be off to college, trade school, or work. Pretty soon you will have an emptier or empty nest. I’m sure you will miss your kids when they are away, we all do. Wouldn‘t it be nice to have great senior pictures where you could see their smiling face whenever you want? What is that worth to you?
Where should you go for your portraits to be taken?
A park or garden would be great for natural backgrounds. Outdoors will also offer a lot of space for portraits with pets or friends. We can suggest areas that work well for larger pets (horses for example) or your auto or motorcycle. This is when the senior gets to decide where to go for their session to really show who they’ve become.
Are there other great areas for portraits to be taken?
Beaches are spectacular places for portraits. Many seniors will go during the summer or early fall but even winter is a great beach portrait time.
What if you just want something simple and quick?
Come to the studio! Rose has a variety of backgrounds to coordinate with your outfits. You may still want to bring several outfits and some of your personal things.
Who can come along?
Rose suggests to bring a friend, a parent or sibling. Someone to help with natural expressions and get in a photo or two.
What should you bring with you to your session?
Four or five outfits should be good but if you have outfits for different moods, please bring them along. If you would like sports gear or uniforms, bring them. Do you play an instrument? If you would like some photos with it, bring it along. Some of the ladies like to have portraits taken on different days so they can change their hair style; this is a great time for a different mood to your portraits.
What should you wear?
You can choose to use your graduation gown, formal wear or casual clothing – it depends on the mood you want for your portraits. Either way, you should avoid anything with busy patterns or a big logo as they can be distracting and unflattering. Coordinate your shoes to your outfits, in some poses you will often see your feet.
What are the best colors to wear for senior pictures?
Solid colors look best in portraits. You can do natural colors that look well on everyone or choose a color you know looks good on you. In the end, you should choose something you feel comfortable wearing that reflects your personality.
Just for thought. High school graduation is a milestone that separates the kid from the grown-up. It‘s the moment where you get to decide where to go, what to study and what you’ll become – you have the freedom to be anything you want to be. Try to capture that spirit in your images.
